Once we enter our home through the beautiful door and the surrounding, the first thing we need is a shoe rack. We need to accommodate our regular shoes, some extra like sports shoes, slippers, chappals, all types of footwear of family members and in addition the guest shoes, if we don’t provide any special place for them to keep their shoes, then they will keep it on the floor in front of your shoe rack, or in the entrance space!
The placement of this shoe rack has to be somewhere near the entrance door. The normal sports shoes’ size is approximately 18 inches in depth. If there is any tall person in the family, the depth of the shoes may increase. But other shoes/chappals may not have that much length. That means we need to keep variation in the depth of the shoe rack to accommodate all types. If we don’t keep enough depth to the rack then you can’t close the rack door properly and it doesn’t look neat and tidy!
There has to be a small place to sit and tie your shoes or for guests. For that, if we design a small stool, puffy or some inbuilt place, it will be very convenient!
Sometimes a dedicated place for socks of family members in the shoe rack can be very convenient. If there are three family members who need socks every day, like father and two children, we can plan three drawers in the unit itself, so that they need not search for it in rushing hours. Those will be right in the front while embarking to the office or school.
The space for keys, hats, helmets, scarfs is extremely necessary at the entrance, in and around the shoe rack. We can give a touch of aesthetics to this utility!
