Design your own study table ….
These days most of the people have to work from the comfort of their homes. Hence, everyone needs a small study / work corner of their own which is personal to their needs. There are some lucky ones who can afford to have their own study room! But let us talk about a small, personal study corner, which is possible to have for most of us these days! We will talk about the small study corner right now. Remember these are only small snippets of information that I am sharing with you.
First of all, try to find out a place around the house which you can convert into your own work space. Make sure it is little away from regular chaos and suitably ventilated so that little breeze can come in and refresh you! If possible, a blank wall is preferred in the front. This way you can assure yourself that you are not distracted from the views outside and can concentrate more on the task in hand!
This takes care of the location and basic requirement of your study area! Now let’s talk about the actual table and all the paraphernalia or the accessories that make a world of difference.
The minimum size of the table should be 3 feet in length with a depth of about 2 feet. But if more space is available then you can stretch this further up to 4 feet or 5 feet. The ideal height should be 2 and half feet. You can have multiple drawers on one side or if table is less in length, then just a small shelf to keep your laptop bag. In the front, on the wall at your eye level you should have a white board or a magnetic board or a soft board, whichever is comfortable to you. Keep some space empty from the table top and then fix it leaving 6 inches from table top. The board height can be 1 foot or 1 and half feet. Above that we can place one small shelf with the depth 9 inches and length matching the table. If the table is 5 feet long then you can keep the shelf just 4 feet in length. You can keep some books you frequently need or your routine diary or all stationary items like stapler, softboard pins, paper punch in one box to make it look neat and to avoid cluttering on shelf.
On the table, keep a small plant which will enhance the beauty and impart freshness, one table clock of your choice, a nice pen stand, a small box to keep coasters. So, if you are having coffee while working you can use coasters to keep the table top clean.
Remember there is no right or wrong when it comes to designing your personal work space. The only thing to bear in mind is to not overdo anything, similarly do not keep the table too vacant which would make it look very bland.
There you go … now you know how to design your own study corner!
